Laboratory – research to experience

Many people know research work only from media reports, young people know it from school books and students within the scope of their specialisation. Opportunities to be introduced to science are few and fears are therefore sometimes large. The initiative ”BIOTechnikum“ addresses this by making biotechnological research a personal experience for visitors of its exhibition vehicle’s laboratory.

A complete laboratory infrastructure enables you to carry out biotechnological experiments on the ground floor of the mobile hands-on experience – for demonstrations during exhibition visits or in the scope of practicals among other things. In this way groups of up to 40 people (2 times 20) can get to know biotechnology or extend their knowledge.

The participants will act as researchers, under the guidance of experienced scientists. Whether it is the isolation of genetic material from cells of the oral mucosa, the application of foodstuff analytics, the production of a solar cell with plant dyes or experiments dealing with biotechnology applications in industrial production – the experiments will be matched to the interests and knowledge of the visitors and in this way open up to them unusual access to an extraordinary technology.
